starting from a seed

Every summer since we've lived in our house, I've grown a vegetable garden but this year I've decided to be hard core and actually grow my own seeds. It was funny because the other day I was watching Today as I always do and I heard them talk about starting seeds in egg cartons. Then they can be transported to the garden just by separating them (cartons are biodegradable). I didn't really think much of this until I was at the store buying 3 dozen eggs for a brunch and the eggs happen to be by the seed packets.

Then the other day I bought basil, cilantro, chives, rosemary, oregano, sage, parsley, mint, tomatillo, red onion, carrot, spinach, and bean seeds. I plan on making A LOT of salsa! Has any one ever planted tomatillos or onions? Because I really have no idea what I'm doing..

Anyway, I highly encourage everyone to start a garden. Grow herbs in a pot in your kitchen if you don't have a garden. It's so satisfying to cook with food you've grown. But if you don't want to, save your egg cartons for me because I need lots more!

That is soo great! I was just reading about seed gardens in egg cartons. I think it is a great idea. I want to plant a planter box garden and I think I'll start my seeds too. This magazine has instructions for a salsa garden. Let me know how it goes. Debbie

I like this post you are inspiring me and giving me great ideas. I will have to do the egg carton trick.
